Martin Door Manufacturing is one of Utah's most
admired companies.
That according to the June 2007 edition of "Utah
Business" which highlights 12 Utah-based
companies, each of which has operated for at least
five years and done well in their particular field.
Martin Door was cited as the most admired manufacturer
in the state, in the publication. The article
said Martin Door combined Japanese efficiency
and American ingenuity to establish its current
pattern of growth, which includes sales to 86
different countries or territories.
Larry Martin, vice president of MDM, is pictured
in the story and tells the story of a 13-year
struggle to establish lean manufacturing principles
in the company's culture.
Dave Martin's attention and engineering of
"a number of safety factors such as the
Finger Shield and safety hinges" that are
standard on all Martin doors is also outlined
in the story. Martin is chairman of the company.
In business since 1936, Martin Door is based
in Salt Lake City and is an ISO-9001 company
who sells UL-approved garage door systems.
