Lynda Jeffs poses
with three members of the Home
Depot pit crew that are behind
race car driver Tony Stewart of
the NASCAR circuit. She saw the
crew before a NASCAR race that
is held in Las Vegas every year.

Johnson's pit crew invited
Jeffs to come and visit them every time
she attends a NASCAR event and took
a couple of lug nuts off of their driver's
car as momentos to make sure she remembered
them as well.
She later met and talked
to Johnson and he extended the same
invitation as his crew, to come and
see him before the next race she sees.
Jeffs would like to attend the Daytona
500 some day to do just that.

It is Lynda's ability to deal
with people, that makes her
such a valuable resource in
the Martin Door picture. As
the first contact with the company,
she seeks to put people on a
positive path to enhance their
experience.
Jeffs said it is important
to use humor as a means of enjoying
life and making it more enjoyable
for others. She tries to remember
the names of Martin Door's regular
customers and vendors and has
been known to sprinkle humor
into those relationships.
"Laughter is really good
for you. It's good for you mentally
and physically," Jeffs
said.
Jeffs worked for the state
of Utah for 15 years as a secretary
to the Public Safety office.
As secretary for four hearing
officers she dealt with Attorneys,
Law Enforcement and drivers
who were coming to a meeting
with an edge and often dealing
with DUIs (driving under the
influence) or fatalities.

"People came there
because of problems and were sometimes
hostile. I needed to set the tone for
the office, which was very important,"
she said.
Jeffs took specialized
courses in dealing with difficult people
and also took special training for phone
skills. That training and her experience
are evident in the way she is able to
help people connect with the right source
or contact at Martin Door.
"She loves the position,
and the customers love her. She answers
phones promptly with a smile. And you
can tell she is smiling even from the
other end of the line. Her friendly
nature and gentle disposition have won
her many compliments and fans from among
the Martin dealer and employee ranks,"
Ken Martin, president of Martin Door,
said of Jeffs.
Ken said Lynda has used
a genuine caring nature, to help diffuse
potentially difficult situations. "She
always handles each call in a very professional
way," Martin said.
Born in Utah, Jeffs spent
her high school years in Southern California
and also lived in Reno before making
her way back to the Beehive State. She
is the mother of one daughter, and also
a grandmother.
Outside the office, Jeffs'
stays active and involved. She loves
horses and good cars. She currently
owns a 1990 red Corvette convertible.
"Being active keeps
you young and young of heart,"
she mused.
