Comparing Apples To Apples: Martin Costs Less

Aug. 21, 2006

When you get down to the fine details, and compare features, a Martin Garage Door costs less than any other door on the market.

That may seem like a wild claim for the world's finest garage door, but company chairman David O. Martin says it is easy to document. The key is to compare like features on the doors.

Martin says the case in point was clearly in evidence recently in the Philippines, where he was told by Ramon Piñero, Martin's dealer, that the local company had lost a bid on a major project with extra wide doors because the doors were too expensive---compared to another American brand.

Not new to the idea of being more expensive than the competition, Martin set up a meeting with the builder where he simply made one request of the builder. Would the builder go back to the American manufacturer and request pricing for a reverse angle track system and a door two inches wider, along with a 30,000 cycle spring, similar to what the builder was used too with Martin Garage Doors? The builder did just that.

Much to the builder's surprise, when the new bid was received, Martin was over $100 less for each door. Martin said the bids only compared three items, not all of the 24 safety features, or countless quality benefits that make up every Martin Garage Door.

A Martin Door is all about value and safety, according to Dave.

Dave Martin says when you compare apples to apples a Martin Door is the best value in the garage door market.

He insists that buying a Martin Door saves the customer in both the short and long term.

One of Dave's favorite illustrations on that point is how a cheaper garage door can easily cost more than a Martin Garage Door after just a few years when the spring needs to be replaced.

A simple spring replacement can easily push a cheaper door into territory that makes it more expensive than a Martin Garage Door, which has a lifetime warranty on a spring and most parts. He suggests no homeowner would be eager to save money in circumstances where they will pay more for a poorer quality product in the long run.
