It was just crazy enough to work.
Faced with the decision of picking up the remains of a company that had gone under, Luke Meyer said his first inclination was to pick up the name of their old company, Laziman. He found the name was not available which he and partners thought was nothing short of crazy.

The word crazy was catchy as a name for their new company, so they incorporated it into the new business, with a different spelling.
Crazy is spelled Krazi in this case.
One of the partners, Geoff Clarke said people are always curious about how the Johannesburg, South Africa company got its name.
Clarke is a partner in the business with Luke Meyer and John Burtman.
Martin Doors have been in South Africa since 1991 and were sold by Peter Mock who owned Genie Home Products. When the focus of business changed, the friendship between the two companies was such that Mock recommended Meyer and his partners as the right mix to work with Martin in providing the world's finest and safest garage doors in South Africa.
Clarke said Martin Doors represent what they want to be---a classy company just crazy enough to believe people want value and quality when it comes to a garage door. He said the market is already flooded with companies that offer cheap product. He said Martin helps Krazi distinguish itself from others in the South African market.

“There's a market for everything. We want to ride with the best. We're not interested in a price war,” Clarke said. The representation of quality makes a difference for the company.
“After 25 years of good sales, service and a top quality product delivered on time the name Krazi door has found its niche at the top end of the garage door market,” Clarke said. He said Martin Door's excellent safety qualities have added another dimension to the company's product range. |

“We feel privileged to be a Martin Door dealer,” Clarke said.
Changes in the political landscape in the past decades, have led to an emerging middle class and continuing growth, according to Clarke. He described the market as “quite fantastic.”
