SALT LAKE – A visit with the governor of the state of Utah highlighted a two-day dealer conference recently hosted by Martin Door Manufacturing.

A contingent of Martin dealers from several countries went to the state capitol and met with Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr. on the first day of the conference. The meeting was set up as a means of extending a special welcome to Martin's international dealers, according to Antone Clark, chief communications officer for Martin Door.

A former ambassador to Singapore, Huntsman was elected to office in November of 2004. He is also former CEO of Huntsman Corp.

Approximately 142 dealers attended the conference, according to David Haslam, national director of Sales and Marketing for Martin Door. He termed the event a major success.

Trade show specialist Steve Miller gave two presentations as part of a day of events that included special presentations from dealers as well as product updates and training sessions.

The two-day festivity was punctuated with an awards dinner.

Special award winners included:

---Bay Area Overhead Door Company of Santa Clara, California, with the North American Quality & Service Dealer's Award.

---Southwest Doors of Green River, Wyoming with the North American New Dealer Award.

---Mehr's Garage Doors of St. George, Utah won the North American Dealer Award.

---Immobiliaria Moderna de Aguascalientes won the North American Chairman's Award. The company is based in Aguascalientes, Mexico.

---Guiar Systema of Leon, Mexico won the International Dealer of the Year Award.

---Best Garage Doors & Openers of Arvada. Colorado won the Greatest Sales Percentage Increase Award in North America.

---Chamberlain Doors of Bolton, England won the International Qualtiy & Service Dealer's Award.

---Roli Snc of Veroli, Italy won the International New Dealer of the Year Award.

---Al Masaeed Trading Services Est. of Damman, Saudi Arabia was awarded the International Chairman's Award.

---VUSAT of Baku, Azerbeijan won the International Greatest Sales Percentage Increase Award.
