Martin Door Honored As Utah Trailblazer

Jun. 21 , 2005

SALT LAKE – Martin Door Manufacturing is one of Utah's top trail-blazing companies.

Martin Door was one of 10 Utah companies honored with a “Utah Trailblazer” award in May, during a ceremony hosted by Salt Lake Community College. The awards seek to feature companies that have been in business for at least 50 years and have blazed trails of innovation and industry.

Larry Martin, vice president of MDM and the oldest son of Martin founder Leno Martin, accepted the award for the company. Larry is the nephew of David Martin, owner of Martin Door Manufacturing.

In making the presentation, SLCC officials showed footage of an interview done with Larry talking about the company's past. The footage emphasized the many safety innovations that make up a Martin Garage Door, plus the company's focus on efficiency.

All 10 award winners were dressed in Western garb and featured in a state-wide magazine. The magazine article mentioned how Martin Door has used safety, quality and service to position itself in the world market. The story also said innovation is a key part of the company's business plan.

Larry Martin donned a cowboy hat and sunglasses for the banquet.
