New Curve Shield Is Latest Martin Safety Innovation

Aug 23, 2005

Martin Door Manufacturing is adding another safety standard to its garage doors.

Effective October 1, all Martin Garage Doors up to 8' high will come with curve shields---a new protective device that keeps errant hands and fingers away from moving door. It is the 15 th standard feature on every Martin Door. The device will mount easily onto the reverse angle bracket shield, using existing holes in the shield.

The device was initially designed to meet new European standards for safety.

There will be no additional cost added to the price of a Martin Door with the new standard feature, according to Dave Martin, chairman of MDM.

“We're trying to do our best to protect hands and fingers,” Martin said of the new device. He said the shield continues to send a message that Martin continues to make the safest garage door on the market.

“As a responsible sectional garage door manufacturer you can be assure that with a Martin Door, it's the finest and safest garage door you can buy in the world,” Martin said.

Martin Door's new curve shield (shown above) will help keep fingers and hands away from springs and cables (as demonstrated below). They will be standard on all Martin Garage Doors, effective September 1.
