SALT LAKE - Martin Door Manufacturing has been
re-certified as an ISO 9001-2000 UL Registered
Firm, passing its latest four-day Registration
audit with flying colors.
Martin Door undergoes an ISO inspection annually,
and then an intense ISO Registration re-certification
inspection every third year. During this renewal
inspection, completed in late May, only five
minor action items were found, according to
Larry Martin, vice president of MDM.

"The UL certification
inspector, Dave Boston, said that normally
a manufacturing plant will have 20 to
30 action items of some sort or another
by the company. We had only five and they
are considered 'very minor' per Dave,"
Larry said. He credited the work of the
Martin Door internal audit team, led by
Rick Marshall, Megan Guymon, Valerie Barna
and Robert Juarez. He singled out Guymon,
Martin Door's quality documents manager,
for helping the company be ready for close
inspection of its ISO standards and processes.

"They (the team) do an outstanding job
in self evaluation and correction, and together
with Megan's skill as a records manager, we
were prepared. In fact, we are audit ready at
all times. I told this to our auditor, and he
said that is the first time in all of the companies
he has visited in his career, that someone has
stated that they are always 'audit ready,"
Larry said.
Even with the expertise of his audit team,
Larry said he is adding another key resource
to Martin Door's team. Jon Sorensen will be
added to the audit team, he said. The audit
team currently does an inspection of Martin
Door processes and procedures on a weekly basis.
