SALT LAKE - The governor of Utah was unable
to make a special Martin Door event, honoring
the visit of Chinese Secretary Dr. Deng Wei
gen, so company officials took the event to
Gov. Olene Walker.
Dr. Deng brought a special gift to
give Gov. Olene Walker during his brief
visit to Utah, but Gov. Walker's schedule
was filled with responsibilities for
the day in a special legislative session.
Dr. Deng left the gift with David O.
Martin and asked him to deliver it to
the governor in his behalf.
That meeting took place on May 4, when
Mr. Dave Martin, chairman of Martin
Door, and Dr. Keith Martin, International
Sales Director for Martin Doors, visited
Gov. Walker to make the presentation.

There was a bit of irony to the visit with
the governor. Gov. Walker was not the only visible
figure that beckoned photo requests.
The governors aide, Robin Thomas, took
photos of the Martins with Gov. Walker, but
then made a request of her own. Could she have
her picture taken with David Martin?
Dave Martin is highly visible in Utah, where
he has become a recognizable figure from his
many TV commercials and his activity in civic
affairs.
