SALT LAKE -- Add Azerbaijan to the countries
where you will be able to find a Martin Door.
Dr. Keith Martin, director of International
Sales, said a new distributor is being set up
for the Muslim country located on the Caspian
Sea. VUSAT, owned by Dr. Teyyub Shukurov, ordered
its first shipment of garage doors earlier this
year.
Shukurov made contact with Dr. Martin several
years ago and expressed interest in being a
Martin Door distributor.
Because of its geography, shipping doors to
Azerbaijan presents some special problems. A
former Soviet state, the country borders Iran
on the south, Armenia on the west and Georgia
and Russia on the north. It is not accessible
via an ocean port. In order to ship doors to
the country, Martin Door has to send containers
to Georgia and then truck the doors through
that country and into Baku, the capital. Political
tension in Georgia had temporarily closed those
ports, adding to the difficulty of making the
shipment.
Azerbaijan is the 69th country to
sell Martin Doors, according to Dr. Martin
